Litter is bitter

Updated: May 5

Hello readers and welcome back. As usual, this is a very serious post. As you read from the title, litter is bitter.

Me and Lily went on a 25 minute walk and counted about 361 peices of plastic, and we only started counting halfway through. This is not good. This shows how much some people don't care about the environment.

I am going to explain some more facts about plastic and going to tell you how you can help save the earth!

First off, how can we help??

We can help by cutting down on single-use plastic. I suggest buying things like reusable tote bags and glass jars to put some of your food in, as said in our first post "Take action:going shopping"

Another way you can help is by putting your rubbish in the right bin. Cardboard, hard plastics such as bottles and containers, bottle caps, cans, paper and glass bottles all go in the recycling bin, whereas soft plastics, food waste, and general rubbish go in the rubbish bin.

You could also help by cleaning up a park or maybe even your back/front yard to reduce plastic waste.

In the future, we will probably be doing cleanups, so you could join one of those as well. We need as many people as we can get to help us save our earth.

Did you know?

1. More than 14 million tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean each year and take the lives of more than 700 species of innocent sea creatures

2. Did you know that you consume about 5 grams of micro plastic each week? That's about the weight of a credit card!

3. 90% of plastic is made from fossil fuels

4. Most plastic takes 400-500 years to biodegrade. See our post,"Biodegrading" for more facts about biodegrading.

Thank you, and stay green!☘🌏
